2nd October 1881.

Analysis of Miss Smith's Belongings.

All clothes show unusual even fine weave - not cheap material.
Seams of clothes uniform stitching - machine sewn - mass production
Freshly laundered with hints of a Perfume on sleeves and shoulders near neckline - floral yet heavy - not lavender!!!
Second scent noticeable on underarm regions - more subtle.
The seams do not show any sign of dirt - laundress very good.
4 separate fibre types found.
Cotton (part of stocking) - identified by microscopy - short spiral ribbon fibres; drop test - water droplet sinks into material in moments; oil spot test - opaque stain; fibre burns - smells like paper.
Unknown Fibre 1 (Jacket) - microscopic analysis - circular cross section, smooth - unusual; melts when held above flame; burns with sweet smell; produces hard ash.
Unknown Fibre 2 (Jacket and dress material) - microscopic analysis - uniform length of irregular cross section with glass like shine; chars when in contact with vitriol; burns fully.
Unknown Fibre 3 (Dress material) - microscopic analysis - fused fibres looking like dog bones; burns fully.

Conclusions - Unknown manufacturing, care and materials. Not made using technology widely available and containing synthetic fibres. ADVANCED TECHNOLOGICAL MANUFACTURING
